Caves Ackerman Saumur - Exhibition of Wine Stakes in Mosaic by Didier Marsault
Caves Ackerman, at their vast underground caverns hollowed out of the local tuffeau stone at Saint-Hilaire-Saint-Florent near Saumur in the Loire Valley, are hosting an unusual exhibition of mosaics constructed from vine stakes or staves made from the local slate (ardoise).
The exhibition, which runs from mid-December until near the end of March 2012, officially opens on Thursday 15th December with a cocktail reception at Caves Ackerman from 7pm.
Vine stakes made from local Anjou slate are part of the areas oenological heritage and local sculptor Didier Marsault, who is based at Trélazé on the outskirts of Angers has put together an unusual exhibition of his work inspired by the mosaics of Gaudi.

Normal opening times for Caves Ackerman are:
Monday to Saturday (and Sundays in December)
9h30 to 12h30 and 14h to 18h30
