Le Mans 24 Hours | Saint-Saturnin Classic British Welcome 2012

27 January 2012

Description:

Derek Bell - Guest of Honour in 2012

In 2012, which will see the 80th running of the Le Mans 24 Hours Race, the Saint-Saturnin Classic British Welcome has announced that Triumph will take centre stage. Not only that, on Friday 15th June, the day before the official start of the 2012 24 Heures du Mans, one of the greatest British endurance drivers of all time, Derek Bell, long time team-mate of Jacky Ickx, will be in attendance to meet members of the public and Triumph enthusiasts as part of the Saint-Saturnin Classic British Welcome.

It will be the second time that Derek Bell has been driver of honour at the Classic British Welcome. Previous guests of honour have included British drivers Sir Stirling Moss and Johnny Herbert.

Following a long line of other historic Le Mans marques including Porsche, Morgan, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Lotus, Austin Healey, Corvette and Jaguar, this year’s focus is on Triumph since 2012 marks the 50th anniversary of the Triumph Spitfire two seater sports car.

Already four Triumph enthusiasts’ clubs have confirmed they will be in attendance at this year’s Classic British Welcome, two each from France and the UK. These are, from France, l’Amicale Spitfire de France and le Triumph-club de France and, from the UK, the TR Register and the Triumph Sport Six Club.
